Not a Pen and Paper Inventory!
Students love to take this profile because it uses a unique answering system. Each student receives a folder, much like a manila folder (though more attractive), and two sets of colorful stickers with phrases printed on each. Inside each folder, three statements require completion. Phrases printed on the stickers provide possible completion statements. Each student selects eight choices from a possible 40 and sticks them into the folder. Color coding on the stickers provides instant scoring for the 12 styles addressed by the profile!

- Which Profile Should I Give to Sixth Graders?
- Although one profile covers grades 3-6 and the other grades 7-12, teachers of sixth graders might want to administer the grades 7-12 version. Rather than three questions to respond to in the grades 3-6 version, there are four for grades 7-12 and the questions are more sophisticated. If you are in a middle school or junior high, and sixth grade is your lowest grade, rather than buying two versions of the profiles, we recommend you purchase only the grades 7-12 version.
- What About Students Below Grade Three?
- To take the profile, a student must be able to read and prioritize choices. Some first- and second-graders are able to do this. If you feel your students have these two skills, then you can administer the grades 3-6 profile to them. Special directions for administering the profile given in A Guide to The Kaleidoscope Profile® Interpreting Your Styles (support booklet) would apply. PLS is field-testing a method of profiling children younger than grade 3.
