Jim Johnson is currently director of personnel at Rock Hill School District in South Carolina. He has a masters degrees in educational administration and in guidance/counseling from Winthrop University. His educational specialist degree in educational administration is from Clemson University, and he is a Ph.D. candidate in educational leadership at Clemson University. Jim has been teacher and principal at the middle, junior high, and high school levels. He has also worked in industry as a training director for Duke Power Company. He serves as adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina.

Jim has served as President of the South Carolina Association of Secondary School Principals and on the board of directors of the S.C. Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development. During the last ten years, he has provided consulting services for school districts as they worked through the process of adopting alternative schedules.

Some of the venues where Jim has presented workshops include: National Tech Prep Network Conference, National Association of Secondary School Principals, ASCD, and SREB/High Schools That Work. Other conference topics include: integrating the curriculum, developing transitional programs for middle/high schools, and building consensus within a school faculty.
