Course Description Learning Styles for Educators is designed to give educators information about the unique ways that each person learns, based on current brain research and the key concepts of learning styles. The course trains educators to create and deliver lessons that meet the needs of students with various learning styles. The course is organized into four workshops:
- Workshop One The Kaleidoscope Profile®: Educators complete an inventory to get information about their personal learning styles. They learn about the connections between learning style and teaching style.
- Workshop Two Sensory Styles: Educators learn the preferential ways students take in information through their senses (kinesthetically, tactually, auditorily, and visually). Through online interactions, educators learn how to add and rotate sensory-style elements in lessons.
- Workshop Three Perceptual and Organizational Styles: Educators learn the different ways students perceive information (abstractly or concretely) and organize information (globally or sequentially). Through practical applications, educators learn strategies that meet the needs of students with varying organizational and perceptual styles.
- Workshop Four Personality Styles: Educators learn how personality styles (values and relational preferences) influence learning. Using specific strategies, educators learn how to develop lessons that address various personality styles.
- Method of Instruction: Five-hour, online module.
- Course Materials All materials are available online. Course participants may print out two reference materials: (1) a Learner's Guide that contains key information from the module and (2) a Report of Interactions that is a compilation of the online responses made by the participant.
