Why I love teaching PLS courses: PLS courses are the most practical and applicable courses that I have ever taken on how to be a more effective teacher. PLS courses are like "Do It Yourself" books. If you want to remodel your kitchen and do it yourself, you can buy a book that tells you how to do it yourself. If you want to know "how to" be a more effective teacher, you take PLS courses.
"Stan, I really enjoyed the class. Even after 24 years of teaching, it is nice to know there are so many things yet to learn. I got some very specific hints and helps, and I had a ball! You did a great job!" - Linda Branch, Robinson, IL
Teaching Experience: I have spent 18 years teaching middle school science, social studies, health, and physical education. During that time, I have also served as our school counselor, and the prinicipal designee. I have coached high school and middle school boy’s basketball, and middle school football, track, Special Olympics basketball, and cross country.
Related experience, recognition, awards, etc.: I have served 7 years in higher education administration before teaching school. I have coached for 17 yrs. - 7 at the high school level and ten years at the middle school level.
I have been nominated numerous times for "Who's Who Among America's Teachers". I have also received numerous achievement awards from PLS.
What I love most about teaching: I firmly believe that teachers make a difference in kids' lives. My goal each day at school is to say, do, or teach something that makes a difference in a young person's life.
My favorite moment in teaching: For several years, I taught only sixth grade students at my middle school. Yet, every year the 8th grade yearbook listed me as one of the three most popular teachers at our school as voted on by 8th grade students. Two years after they had me for class, students still consider me one of their most popular teachers. I like that!
Personal information: I enjoy traveling, especially to Disney World. Our family has been 17 times!
I enjoy my children and their activities. They are my special interests, hobbies, and passion all rolled into one.
