Testimonial from a participant

"The one most important thing I can say about the STAR (Successful Teaching of Acceptance of Responsibility) class that I took from LeAnna, is it gave us valuable information that we could use with our students and then share, learn and disseminate our experiences with our peers. This is a very rare thing educators have time to do today and it is such a valuable part of our profession."

PLS Courses I Teach:

  • Successful Teaching of Acceptance of Responsibility®

Year started with PLS:

2003

Why I love teaching PLS courses:

PLS offers courses that are immediately useful in the classroom. It’s not like so many classes an educator takes that teach you the philosophies of a class but then does not let you put them to practice. As an instructor of this course, I am the lead learner. We are all continually learning from each other and that is so important in our profession.

Education

  • BA in Education-ASU
  • MA in Administration-NAU

Teaching Experience

I have taught a total of 19 years. My first seven in first grade, and last 12 in third grade.

Related experience, recognition, awards, etc.:

I am a certified Tribes trainer and have trained 4 different schools in this process. It is a classroom climate/management program of which I use in my class to this day. I have received district recognition as a AAA recipient and the KNIX radio station teacher of the week.

What I love most about teaching:

In one word, Kids…………..In the true meaning of being an educator, we are the people who MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Through these many changing political views and trials put upon all of us today, we must remember the most important reason we’ve chosen our careers. KIDS!!

My favorite moment in teaching:

I cannot narrow this down to one favorite moment in this awesome career. There are so many stories that would make your laugh and make your cry that I couldn’t even fit into this bio. Every year I do have 2 favorite moments. First being the first day of school with my new class, meeting all the new personalities that I get to encounter for 180 days. Secondly, the last day of school so I can reflect on where we have come together as a community and life long learners.

Personal information:

Professionally, I like to keep learning, Personally, I love to hike, snow ski, sit on a beach and read. My most favorite person to do this with is my 12 year old son, along with the wonderful friends and family we have.
