  • Authored and successfully received funds for four grants. One was an $80,000 grant to fund innovative ideas for basic math and reading instruction.

  • Highlighted on a local cable television program.
  • Workshop presenter at local, state, and national levels.

What I love most about teaching:

Teaching is like the rain to a seed. I just love nurturing my gardens and watching them grow!

My favorite moment in teaching:

Students who were once my first graders are now off in college and beginning to think about families of their own. Jimmy, a first grader of mine in 1989, recently saw me and said, "I remember..." and went on to list a number of activities and good feelings he had as a first grader over 15 years ago! This reminded me of the lasting impact that I make on the young lives of children every day...

Personal information:

I love to spend time with my family. We go camping together and seem to have an affinity for water — we love canoeing down rivers, boating on lakes, frolicking in the ocean, playing in pools, and even can be found splashing in mud puddles on a rainy day.
