Why I love teaching PLS courses

I learn so much about the talents, challenges and aspirations of educators. Teaching in both the United States and Canada affords me the knowledge that we are all honing the same skills and responding to the same global changes.

Teaching Experience

• Grades 9 to 13 English, Mass Media and Screen Education for 16 years
• Teacher Consultant with the Greater Essex County DSB for 15 years

Related experience, recognition, awards, etc.

• Currently working as a Teacher Consultant with responsibilities for English, Libraries, Assessment and Evaluation, Literacy and Professional Development.
• Recent recipient of the Ontario School Library Association's Award for Exceptional Achievement 2004. This award was presented to our district's team which had been charged with selecting, purchasing and delivering $1 million worth of curriculum relevant and engaging books to our elementary school libraries

What I love most about teaching.

The opportunity to recognize that sometimes, the most difficult part of teaching is keeping our mouth shut.

My favorite moment in teaching.

I love the group introductions and interactions where invariably educators learn they have common ties with each other and that they are not alone in their experiences of both the highs and lows of this profession.

Personal information

I have never met a student from whom I could not learn something. Hobbies include canoeing, fishing, swimming, biking and exercising.
