Paul Doyle
Dr. Paul Doyle recently retired as Superintendent of Schools for the Paris Special School District in Paris, Tennessee. He began his career in the Metropolitan-Nashville public school system in 1974, and in his 27 years there, he served as teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, human resource specialist, and director of human resources. He also served as the district’s ombudsman
for 3 years and was responsible for problem resolution, conflict management, and in his own words, “helping folks gain access to, and navigate, a system bound by bureaucratic rules and boundaries.”

Prior to leaving Metro-Nashville, Dr. Doyle was appointed Administrator of the Year, and was presented with the Compassionate Employer Award by Families First of Tennessee for his work with the Welfare to Work program. Dr. Doyle helped create a special education advisory task force called EDAC (Educational Disabilities Advisory Council) to help special education children and their families.
Dr. Doyle was a true teaching superintendent with a commitment to developing learning communities. He has conducted forums for the community, has trained all of the district’s teachers and educational assistants in “7 Habits of Highly Effective People,” and has taught “7 Habits of Highly Effective Families” and “7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.” He has trained his leadership team in “True Colors and Leadership,” the “4 Roles of Leadership,” and “What Matters Most.” He guided the Paris School Board in developing a vision, mission, governing values, and strategic plan.
Dr. Doyle was selected Superintendent of the Year in the Northwest District and was a finalist for Tennessee Superintendent of the Year in 2007. His personal and professional mission is “to empower others to become their own best problem solvers and leaders.” He is also a published author. His most recent books are Leadership and Spirituality: From Dysfunction to Servanthood (2006), and Never Underestimate the Spirit: Messages of Hope and Inspiration (2007). Recently, he was assigned to be the coach and mentor to incoming school administrators and supervisors for the Tennessee State Department of Education.
