My Favorite Teaching Moment

I enjoy those “teachable moments”; those moments where students are able to apply what is happening in the world around them to what they are learning.

One of my favorite moments in teaching occurred when I was teaching in an alternative high school. Most of my students had not experienced a great deal of academic success in their younger school years. We were doing a classroom project, working with the local historical society. Their project was put into the historical society’s museum, and then traveled around the county to various locations for others to see. Their work was honored by the History Channel when it was awarded national acclaim in their Save Our History contest. These students, appeared on the History Channel’s website, and were flown to Washington DC to receive their award! It was truly touching to see these students who had minimal academic success to be honored in such a wonderful manner!

Why I Love Teaching PLS Courses

I love teaching PLS courses because they offer an excellent way for educators to expand their knowledge base, enabling them to be better teachers. PLS courses provide educators with useful skills that are directly related to what they are doing in their own classrooms.
