My Favorite Teaching Moment
I enjoy watching students as they experience that “Aha!” moment. Student engagement in the learning process is so important to me. I try to find the "learning channel" for each student so they can enjoy learning as much as I enjoy teaching. When working with fifth graders, I introduced “question prompts” that allowed them to create higher cognitive level questions about the story they had just read. They each wrote their question down on a piece of paper and wadded it up to throw in our “snowball fight.” Each student grabbed a snowball from the pile to answer, leading to a whole group discussion of the story. The students were so engaged! Their kinesthetic, verbal-linguistic, intrapersonal, and interpersonal needs were all met!
Why I Love Teaching PLS Courses
I love interacting and sharing ideas with the many talented teachers who are taking PLS courses. I learn something, and I enjoy seeing and hearing about the great things that teachers are doing in their classrooms. The participants are so willing to collaborate and share ideas and insights during the courses.
