My Favorite Teaching Moment
My favorite moment in teaching occurred in October one year when I had back surgery and was out of school for 6 weeks. During that time I received an envelope in the mail containing get-well cards from a multiage classroom of approximately 50 students. I dress up as a Dr. Seuss character (Cat in the Hat) every year for our annual Read-A-Thon kickoff. These students wrote their get-well cards as if I were Dr. Seuss. I shed a few tears and then I was inspired to write a book. If I can be remembered and inspire kids to read, my life is fulfilled. I plan to write a book titled, Get Well Dr. Seuss and donate the proceeds to promote reading.
