My Favorite Teaching Moment

Teachers need to listen and connect with their students. One moment in teaching that really touched me was when I found out that the parents of one of my third-grade students were getting divorced. As the morning began, I took her aside and let her know that I’d heard some sad things were happening in her family. I let her know that things like this could affect her greatly and that I was there for her no matter what the need. Her mother came in the next day with tears in her eyes and told me that what I had said really picked her daughter up.
